My business motto is: 'Every dog is a project'My background is steep in program and project management with an emphasis on risk analysis.Over the past 18 years, I have been a dog handler, first as a volunteer and then as a full-time employee with the ASPCA. I can help you train your puppy to become a responsive adult dog and can also advise you if you have recently adopted a shelter dog. Shelter dogs have been through a lot. The dog you see in the shelter may not be the dog you bring into your home. I can help you understand how to communicate with your new family member and can help your new rescue dog transition to your environment.

I believe dog training and Behavior Modification should be safe, effective and fun for all participants. I love helping people live better with their dogs. I hold advanced training and certifications in Separation Anxiety, New puppy in home, Aggression, Fears and Phobias. An additional area of expertise is helping families with Baby/Child dog issues including helping families integrate the dog to a newborn, toddler or small child. In situations where families need guidance I will come and evaluate the situation and give honest, practical advice and behavior modification as needed. I am also a Therapy Dog trainer and evaluator and an Atlas Assistance Dog Certified Service Dog Trainer. I am continually adding to my knowledge of dog training and behavior, each new area I learn about gives me additional tools and techniques that help all the dogs and humans I work with. As much as I love the dogs I totally love working with their families too.

Hi! I'm a dog trainer with a special interest in helping fearful dogs feel better. I do nearly all of my sessions virtually, which enables us to work with the dog as they are in your home - not as they are with strangers present! I love virtual training because in addition to live coaching, we can review videos, look at infographics, and use my virtual whiteboard. For these reasons, I find that my clients' comprehension of core concepts is MUCH HIGHER when I'm working virtually, and session time is saved because we don't need to wait for the dog to accept my presence to get started with training. If you're interested in getting help for your fearful dog, I'm here for you!

Dog Virtuoso is on a mission to change the way dog owners view dog training. Dog training is not just about "fixing the dog." The Dog is not broken. Genuine Dog Training is about the fulfillment of the dog. It's not just for dogs that exhibit nuisance behaviors. Nuisance behaviors are often symptoms of dogs that have not been Physically & Psychologically Challenged. Dog Training is also for "good dogs" with no issues. Imagine if we applied this way of thinking onto kids. Imagine if someone said: "Molly is awesome, why would we teach her tennis?" How about this one: "Jimmy doesn't cause problems, why should he learn chess?" Your dog deserves to feel a sense of accomplishment. In addition to resolving behavioral issues, I'll also introduce something fulfilling for your fur baby! This might be a scent discrimination game for dogs. Or, it may be a dog sport such as agility.

Second Act Dog Training: Specializing in re-homed and adopted dogs… Because there are lots of Second Acts in American lives. My passion is helping people develop the best possible relationship with their canine family members. Bringing a new dog into your life is a great joy -- but it can also be a big challenge. All dogs are individuals and come with their own personalities, abilities, likes and dislikes, skills and quirks. And, if they're rescues, they come with everything they've learned in life so far: some good things and some not-so-good things. I've been working with (and living with!) shelter dogs for over a decade and I understand the challenges and joys of opening your heart and your home to these wonderful, deserving animals. My goal to is to give you the tools you need to understand your dog and to help you communicate with her in a positive and humane way. Training should be fun: something both you and your dog look forward to! You can learn how to replace behavior you DON'T want -- like jumping -- with behavior you DO want -- like sitting politely -- through Positive reinforcement training. Positive reinforcement isn't just about giving your dog lots of cookies. And it's not about "bribes." A reinforcement can be anything your dog loves: play, affection, a chance to go sniff or dig or chase a ball. I will show you how to use the things your dog loves to strengthen the behaviors you want.Science shows us that positive choice-based training has better, longer-lasting results than old-fashioned force-based training. And common sense tells us that a dog who trusts us and finds joy in training is happier and more emotionally stable than a dog who fears us and works because he doesn’t want to get punished.

Hi! I’m a Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Human-Dog Bond Facilitator, and Dog Bite Prevention Strategist. I am a licensed occupational therapist (in CA) with advanced clinical practice in community-based mental health, and have developed services focused on coaching adults who have experienced trauma in building healthful daily routines and sensory-based coping strategies to overcome severe nervous system dysregulation and to support community reintegration. I have over 15 years’ experience working as a dog trainer and canine behavior consultant, specializing in public safety / dog bite prevention, and rehabilitation for anxious, reactive, and traumatized dogs. For 10 years in Los Angeles, I also facilitated animal assisted interventions (with my own dogs and in guiding other human-dog teams) in various nursing homes, schools, homeless shelters, permanent supported housing units and children’s courts. I am currently providing services virtually and in-person (in the New York capital region) that include: private coaching through trauma recovery (focused on the dog’s trauma or the human’s); grief guidance for humans who have lost their dogs and are struggling to engage in daily routines, meaningful activities, or social interactions; consulting on assistance and emotional support dogs, animal assisted interventions, and dog behavior; and classes focused on building skills in nervous system regulation and somatic consent.

ABCDT | Dog Training

I am a 2011 graduate of Animal Behavior College (ABC). I've been training pups and dogs for 14 years and have loved every minute. I'm a member of Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) for many years. I started my business in 2011 and have been very busy with many breeds of dogs and mixes. It is incredibly rewarding each time I finish with a dog and he/she is doing so well. I am always searching for new information regarding training. Whether it is reading, seminars or watching other trainers. I'm so glad I have this opportunity to work with your dog and help in any way I can.

Pawsitive Center practices Positive Reinforcement and Negative Punishment training, this method focuses on teaching and rewarding correct behavior rather than punishing bad behavior. Dog training should be about understanding and trust. We use treats, toys and praise (whatever your dog finds as a valuable reward) to make training a fun and successful experience. Group classes assist with socialization and learning behaviors with the distraction of other people and dogs which can relate to real life scenarios while at the vet, out for a walk or just having people over your house. In addition to group classes we offer private training sessions, because we know with hectic schedules it can be difficult to find time to load up your dog and drive to a group class so we come to you. Private lessons offer one on one training in the dog’s environment. We also provide dog walking and pet sitting. Daily exercise is so important to a dog’s instinctual needs, a lot of undesirable behaviors can stem from boredom. Dogs that get daily exercise are happier and healthier dogs!

Dog Training

Hello! My name is Kristine and I am the owner of True Companion Pet Care. I am a graduate of Animal Behavior College with a certification in Dog Training. I am extremely passionate about dogs, their care, and their well-being. Several years back, when I was a Dog Coordinator for a local rescue group in my area, I saw firsthand just how many dogs were relinquished by their owners to shelters and rescue groups due to behavior issues. Many of their behavior issues could have been corrected if they had a professional trainer to work with them. Sadly, hundreds never make it out of the shelters. Behavior issues are the main reason dogs end up in shelters. I realized that I had to do something to make a difference and reduce those numbers! That is what inspired me to become a dog obedience trainer. I began training shelter dogs to increase their chances for adoption and to live a happy, healthy life. I am a positive reinforcement trainer, certified, bonded, background checked and first aid/CPR certified for dogs. I do not use prong collars, shock collars or choke collars when I train, nor do I use any form of physical punishment whatsoever. As a Certified Dog Obedience Trainer, I offer private obedience training and behavior modification in your home. Private training sessions can be especially beneficial for dogs with anxiety issues; for dogs that are easily distracted in a room full of other dogs and people; for puppies who have not yet been fully vaccinated yet and cannot attend group training; for families who would like all members, including their children, present during training sessions; for families with scheduling conflicts (I can accommodate your schedule and come to you on weekdays, weeknights, and/or weekends). With private training, your dog will receive one on one attention and the curriculum will be personalized to cover the areas that you and your dog need the most. You will receive supporting documentation after every session. My methods of tr

b Kehoskie’s K-9 Care /b I “Specializing in making training a positive experience for you and your dog” Obedience Training Behavioral Corrections Pet Sitting After working in the corporate world for the past 26 years, I decided to do something different with my life. I left my job in 2006 and volunteered at the FLSPCA. Working around animals made me realize that I could make a big difference in their lives. It has been estimated that approx. 60% of dogs in animal shelters are there due to unruly behavior. I wanted the opportunity to help them have a second chance in life, so I enrolled in ABC’s Dog Obedience Instructor Training program. I chose this program because, along with the curriculum that teaches students to understand what motivates a dog’s behavior, it included hands-on training. We’ll work on becoming a good pack leader through proper, positive and effective feeding, sleeping, house access and playing rituals and tactics.

I have spent my entire life with dogs – living with them, training them … loving them. More than that, I understand them and have a passion for helping those who want to learn more about their beloved canines. What is your dog’s behavior saying about your relationship? What are you teaching your dog about you? Answering these questions accurately is the basis for any effective training program, and my goal is to coach you through the process so that you can connect with your dog in an even deeper and meaningful way. You can have the balanced and well-behaved dog that you’ve always wanted! And I promise you, the work will be well worth the fulfilling relationship you build with your best friend.

Dog Training

Hello! My name is Abby French. I am a New York City-based dog trainer who specializes in positive reinforcement methods. Being born and raised in Manhattan, I understand the unique issues that can arise with owning a dog in an urban environment. I also understand how hectic a New Yorkers life can be! It is my pleasure to reduce that stress by coming to you for private in-home lessons.

🐕
Dog Training

When I was a child, I knew that I would be a dog trainer when I “grew up”. I especially wanted to train Lassie! When I did grow up, real life led me in different directions. After I retired, I had the opportunity to train dogs at PetSmart. I was certified by PetSmart and trained dogs at the store in Ithaca for over two years. I then took Dog Obedience at and graduated with honors from Animal Behavior College in California. I also volunteer as a canine companion and dog walker at the Tompkins SPCA. And like most of you, I have owned and trained my own dogs all my life! I believe that dog training should be FUN for you and your puppy or dog. I offer private dog obedience and behavior lessons in your home, at your convenience. I teach at all levels of training. I use only positive reinforcement methods. My preference is to train YOU to train your dog because that meets one of my top goals of improving the relationship and communications between you and your puppy or dog. However, I will consider training the dog and transitioning the training to you afterward. Family members are welcome – kids can help with training!

Dog Training

Hello, First let me thank you for deciding to work with a professional trainer. Either because your having problems and need/want the knowledge and skills to improve or repair your relationship with your dog, or because you have added to your family and want to set your new dog up for success. My name is Stephanie, I have been working with dogs for many years now. I first started in rescue transporting and fostering dogs. Eventually I started my own rescue. Over the years I have seen my fair share of dogs wind up in rescue or a shelter simply because their owners didn’t know how or didn’t want to take the time to learn how to deal with very common behavioral issues. I then saw these same dogs euthanized in shelters or simply sit in rescues or even worse be adopted only to be returned. It was then I decided why not try to prevent these dogs from ever coming into rescue, why not help the ones who are in the system learn the skills to be adopted and stay adopted. This was my push to then pursue a career as well as an education in Professional Dog Training. I am a graduate of Animal Behavioral College. I use positive reinforcement training styles. The theory of this style training is that your dog will be rewarded for a desired behavior increasing the likeliness of this behavior happening again. Remember when you where a child and you got money for good grades or simply keeping your room clean? That reward reinforced you to continue to keep that room clean or maintain good grades…although our dogs don’t care about money they do care about food, attention and toys. By using these things to reinforce our dogs good or desired behavior we will teach them that it is fun and rewarding to continue them. This style of training also builds trust and a bonding relationship. I also will use things like counter conditioning and desensitization to change or modify problem behaviors like leash reactivity, barrier aggression, and fear aggression. I choose not to use aversive training

Ellen Gagliano

Westerlo, NY

Dog Training

I believe that the greatest dog lives inside your pup, and enhancing your human-canine relationship will bring out that fabulous dog you’ve been waiting to emerge! I’ve been studying canine behavior for over eight years, and your relationship with your dog is the foundation of everything that happens thereafter. If you’re struggling with your dog in any way, I can help you sort out the issues and put a strategy in place to help you work through life’s daily challenges. Most times, changing the bigger picture allows all the little bratty behaviors to fade away. Your dog will always mirror your own emotional state. If that state includes stress, anxiety, nervousness and impatience, your dog might act out in bratty and out-of-control behaviors. I can show you how to change that if you are committed to working with your dog, and honoring and respecting him as a dog and not a small human. Without mutual trust and respect, there can be no bond. Without a bond, training is just an exercise.

Dog Training

I started helping by fostering, training, rehabilitate and re-homing rescue dogs. After many years in corporate life, I decided to follow my real passion and calling and am now an ABC Certified Trainer, where I belong. I am employed by Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland, NJ as the Head Dog Trainer. I also conduct private training lessons and group classes through my own business Happy Hounds Canine Service. My passion is to work with dogs and their humans so they can be a great team. My goal is for a happy well balanced and behaved dog, it’s not a one-size-fits- all type situation. Dogs want us to be the leader, and a pet owner should take pride in their dog’s good behavior. All my training is based on positive reinforcement. When you are raised as an animal lover with a variety of pets, and then work with dogs, one comes away with a lot of stories, both good and bad. But, I prefer to remember the good ones, my motto that “there is always a forever home for every dog,” can be proven time and time again.

Dog Training

Too often people give up their dogs due to lack of obedience or behavioral issues. My goal is to keep the dogs in their own home and out of the shelter. I have been exposed to dogs my entire life. In 1995, I began formal obedience training with my own dog and once she completed basic and prenovice classes, I would assist other dogs and handlers. I was an instructor for eight years teaching classes ranging from puppy kindergarten, beginner, and advanced beginner obedience classes. In 2000, I started teaching private lessons when it was needed. In both of these settings, I was exposed to a multitude of temperaments of both dogs and handlers, all of which I possessed patience for dealing with. In addition to being a trainer, I am a CGC evaluator. I am certified thru ABC’s dog training program and am located in Bellmore, NY. I have a passion for dog training and primarily use positive reinforcement techniques. I find it rewarding to help people to understand their pets and to witness the progress of the dog’s training.

I believe that in order to be responsible pet owners, we must cater to their physical and emotional needs. Techniques used in my program include positive reinforcement, encouragement, calm and assertive mindset. It’s this holistic approach that creates the best formula for success. I created my program with both the owner and dog in mind. You will learn exactly what your dog needs both physically and mentally. Your dog will also see you as a leader and someone to be respected. This leads to a stronger bond between you and your dog.
