I left my job in 2006 and volunteered at the FLSPCA. Working around animals made me realize that I could make a big difference in their lives. It has been estimated that approx. 60% of dogs in animal shelters are there due to unruly behavior. I wanted the opportunity to help them have a second chance in life, so I enrolled in ABC’s Dog Obedience Instructor Training program. I chose this program because, along with the curriculum that teaches students to understand what motivates a dog’s behavior, it included hands-on training. We’ll work on becoming a good pack leader through proper, positive and effective feeding, sleeping, house access and playing rituals and tactics.

I am an ABC certified dog trainer. I do in-home private lessons in obedience and addressing problem behaviors such as aggression, jumping, barking and other nuisance behaviors. I am a canine handler with Cayuga County Highland Search and Rescue with my 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, Freya. I do fun trick training and have helped train psychiatric service dogs, ability assistance dogs and am a Canine Good Citizen evaluator. I have extensive experience and knowledge with scent detection canines and use my knowledge of working dogs to help even pet owners read what their dogs are trying to tell them.
