Hi! I’m Sharon (she | her) and I am the founder of Human Canine Collaborative, a small business that takes a somatic, abolitionist, trauma-informed, collaborative approach to supporting human-dog relationships. I’m a Doctor of Occupational Therapy, Human-Dog Bond Facilitator, and Dog Bite Prevention Strategist. I am a licensed occupational therapist (in CA) with advanced clinical practice in community-based mental health, and have developed services focused on coaching adults who have experienced trauma in building healthful daily routines and sensory-based coping strategies to overcome severe nervous system dysregulation and to support community reintegration. I have over 15 years’ experience working as a dog trainer and canine behavior consultant, specializing in public safety / dog bite prevention, and rehabilitation for anxious, reactive, and traumatized dogs. For 10 years in Los Angeles, I also facilitated animal assisted interventions (with my own dogs and in guiding other human-dog teams) in various nursing homes, schools, homeless shelters, permanent supported housing units and children’s courts. I am currently providing services virtually and in-person (in the New York capital region) that include: private coaching through trauma recovery (focused on the dog’s trauma or the human’s); grief guidance for humans who have lost their dogs and are struggling to engage in daily routines, meaningful activities, or social interactions; consulting on assistance and emotional support dogs, animal assisted interventions, and dog behavior; and classes focused on building skills in nervous system regulation and somatic consent.

Dog Training

Hello! My name is Christine. I’ve always been an animal lover. I also had many different types of pets growing up. As soon as I was able to work I had various jobs from horse barns to pet stores, and pet daycare/boarding facilities. I managed a kennel for three years, during that time I became interested in dog behavior. I then pursued a one-year dog training certification course. I recently graduated and became a certified dog trainer. Aside from pet sitting and dog training, I also work as a vet/kennel assistant, furthering my education in animal health. My work is my passion and I am very excited to help you train your loved ones!
