Longsnouts does dog training a little differently! How? We focus on building a strong, engaged, FUN relationship with our dogs, so that manners can be (more) naturally folded in. Relationships are dialogues, with clarity being a key component. We offer class, one-on-one, and in-home opportunities. Classes include a variety of manners-based (polite walking, recalls, basic manners, Urban Manners, Moments of Pause, etc.) and sniffy options (Barn Hunt, Nosework, Shed Hunt, Farm Walks, and more). We can even take your dogs for Adventure Outings, as well as help with a wide variety of in-home behaviors. Be in touch to see how Longsnouts can best help!

We train your dog using force free methods and solutions that are effective, useful, and provide your dog the skills necessary to be a successful member of your household. This results in a well behaved and happy dog! Develop a well-mannered dog: using effective, positive training methods to establish communication, and eliminate unwanted behaviors. Create consistent proper behavior from your dog: understanding training is about communication between people and their dogs; thereby making “training” a way of life. Accomplish client’s goals: listen, acknowledge, and create a living environment that is peaceful, loving, and happy for all family members. Enhance relationships with clients and their dogs: we are constantly continuing our education – there is always more to learn via books, webinars, conferences, and seminars on the newest research and training improvements. Real life experience: a constant teacher, life brings many exciting challenges in each dog trained. Learning from our own dogs and client’s dogs alike, techniques and approaches used need to be fine-tuned, adjusted, and improved to ensure long-term success. We offer: group classes for puppies and adult dogs, private training, and behavior modification, specializing in dog/dog reactivity.

As a CPDT-KA, Truly Dog Friendly Member and proud member of the Pet Professional Guild I subscribe to the code set forth by the Pet Professional Guild ( http://petprofessionalguild.com/ ) which is the understanding that force-free means no shock, no pain, no choke, no fear and no physical force. No compulsion based methods are employed to train your pet. I exclusively work with families and pets in the owner's home. I do not discount the attendance at training centers, however I do find that when problem solving is needed it is much easier for a client to transfer learning while working in the setting where they live vs. get instruction from the outside and have to figure out how that advice fits the physical situation in the home. For some dogs group training can be stressful and they are more successful learning in the comfort of a familiarity of home.

CPDT-KA | Dog Training

With over 20 years of experience, I understand that every dog—and every loving guardian—is unique. My training approach is rooted in compassion, patience, and a deep understanding of canine behavior. I specialize in behavior-focused training that helps dogs overcome challenges, build confidence, and thrive in their environments. Whether you’re navigating reactivity, anxiety, or simply looking to strengthen communication, I’m here to guide you with proven techniques and heartfelt support. Together, we’ll create lasting results and a stronger, more harmonious bond between you and your dog. One of the most transformative aspects of my reactivity training comes from years of hands-on experience and behavioral insight—paired with the presence of my remarkable working dog, Slash. Slash brings a rare gift to each session: an intuitive, highly skilled ability to communicate with reactive dogs in ways that foster calm, trust, and learning. His presence isn’t just supportive—it’s strategic and deeply effective, offering dogs a model of balanced behavior and helping them reset their responses in real time. This unique dynamic sets my training apart and consistently leads to breakthroughs that traditional methods often miss. Private Training for: puppies, adult dogs, reactivity and aggression, and behavior modification.

I am the Lead Dog Trainer at locally owned Mighty Pet store in Menominee, Michigan. In addition to having my CPDT-KA I am also a graduate of Micheal Shikashio's Aggression In Dogs Master Course and a licensed Veterinary Technician. Mighty Pet is a one of a kind local family owned business. We began as a pet supply retail store and have grown to include pet lodging, doggy day camp, and training services. I joined Mighty Pet in 2017 to help build their training program. Since that time our program has grown to include multiple group classes, day training, private training, in home training and behavior consultation services. Our group classes cover a variety of disciplines and topics including puppy manners, basic obedience, therapy dog training, Rally obedience and dog powered sports like dog sledding and canicross. My private training/behavior consultation services cover a wide range of needs including separation anxiety, aggression, reactivity and fear. Through our training program at Mighty Pet I help pet parents to develop their dog into a welcome member of the family by understanding the unique needs of each client and their dog. Then using the least invasive, minimally aversive methods possible, I develop a structured, yet flexible training plan, utilizing modern learning theory and training techniques. When necessary I work with owners to address and modify their dog's unhealthy or dangerous behavior.

Hi! My name is Christine Fox and I am here to talk about everything dogs, mindfulness & life as a pet parent. Yes, it’s a bit of an odd combo, but it’s my mission to make mindfulness as it relates to dogs, easier to access and understand. I take dog behavior and mindfulness research and smoosh them into bite-sized dog treats of help. I’m here to teach you (since 1999!) what I’ve learned and to build a community of like-minded dog lovers. As a certified dog trainer, one thing I’ve noticed is that most people have no idea of what they can do to improve their lives through their dogs behavior. I hope you’ll try one new thing today to improve your overall wellness through the love of your dog – xo

Jacqueline is a current graduate student with Virginia Tech completing her Masters in Applied Animal Behavior and Welfare! She completed her undergrad studies at Eastern Michigan University where she was a research student under Dr. Jamie Cornelius studying bird behavior, and physiology. Jacqueline received her certification in Canine Emotion and Cognition from Duke University, and is pet CPR certified. She is working toward becoming a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (CAAB). Other certifications include: CDBC, and Fear Free Animal Trainer. Jacqueline has worked with numerous rescue/non-profit organizations including Animal Rescue Coalition, Villalobos Rescue Center, Detroit Bully Corps, Allforkarma, Humane Society of Livingston, MI Lab Rescue, Stiggys Dogs, DogAide, Blue Star Service Dogs, and Bark Nation. She has a strong background in working with rescue animals who suffer from fear-based aggression/anxiety. Jacqueline has been a foster, and now “foster-failure”, for Last Day Dog Rescue, and that is where her current rescue dog, Porter, came from. Aside from her rescue work, Jacqueline has been fortunate enough to work in the medical field of animal welfare as well, first working for Countryside Veterinary Hospital for almost three years as a receptionist fielding urgent calls, and assisting the veterinarians/technicians with holding/soothing animals during procedures. She then worked as a technician during the vaccine clinic days for the public at the Humane Society of Livingston, and eventually at Oakland Veterinary Referral Services as a technician assistant in the ER. Because of this, Jacqueline has strong insight on common medical problems that can lead to behavioral issues which allows her to better assist her clients and their dogs. Jacqueline has been a professional dog trainer since the launch of her business in March of 2014, and has worked in the field of animal welfare since November of 2012. She is a force-free trainer offering services in the southeast Michigan area. All breeds, sizes, and ages are welcome! In 2022 she ranked as one of the top trainers in Michigan and is recommended by both veterinarians and veterinary behaviorists.

Dog Training

After volunteering at multiple dog shelters for more than three years—logging over 400 hours—I decided to turn my lifelong passion for dogs into a profession by becoming a certified dog trainer. The hands-on training and real-world experience I gained in the shelters provided a strong foundation for my education, and I graduated from ABC with honors. I’ve always loved dog training and have taken all of our dogs through a variety of obedience and agility classes. One of our previous dogs, Max, became a certified Therapy Dog and served as a Read to Rover dog at our local library, where children would read stories to him. Watching Max interact with the kids and seeing their confidence grow was incredibly rewarding. I’m excited to launch Trinity Dog Training LLC, where my focus is on teaching dog owners the importance of Connection, Communication, and Relationship. These principles not only improve obedience but, more importantly, strengthen the bond between dogs and their people.

Born in Germany, a foreign work assignment brought Susanne’s family to the US in 2008. Drawn to all kinds of animals, she started volunteering at animal shelters, rescues, a low-cost spay and neuter clinic, as well as at a doggy day care facility. In summer 2011, Susanne became head volunteer for dogs at DuPage Animal Care and Control in Illinois where she helped organizing a Structured Training And Reinforcement program (STAR) for shelter dogs. STAR aims to achieve a higher adoption rate by teaching shelter dogs basic obedience and manners which makes the dogs more appealing to potential adopters. Equally important, it provides much needed mental and physical stimulation for dogs in a high stress shelter environment. This experience set the course for Susanne to become a certified dog trainer; she graduated with Honors from Animal Behavior College’s (ABC) dog training program and has also become a Canine Good Citizen evaluator. Since 2014, she offers private obedience training and teaches group classes at Canine Resolution, Waterford, MI. In 2016, Susanne joined Comfort Care Veterinary Services working as Dr. Zinderman’s assistant. “Seeing how dogs rebuild strength and function after a traumatic injury or compromising underlying condition is a wonderful and very rewarding experience.”
