As a CPDT-KA, Truly Dog Friendly Member and proud member of the Pet Professional Guild I subscribe to the code set forth by the Pet Professional Guild ( http://petprofessionalguild.com/ ) which is the understanding that force-free means no shock, no pain, no choke, no fear and no physical force. No compulsion based methods are employed to train your pet. I exclusively work with families and pets in the owner's home. I do not discount the attendance at training centers, however I do find that when problem solving is needed it is much easier for a client to transfer learning while working in the setting where they live vs. get instruction from the outside and have to figure out how that advice fits the physical situation in the home. For some dogs group training can be stressful and they are more successful learning in the comfort of a familiarity of home.

Lindsay Carlson, BS, CDBC, CPDT-KA, FPPE, CCUI graduated from Central Michigan University in 2009 with her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Biology. In her degree program, Lindsay studied animal learning and worked in a rat and pigeon behavior laboratory, deepening her interest and knowledge in animal learning and behavior. After graduation, Lindsay worked in the veterinary field for 2 years before leaving to pursue human learners, working as a foster care case manager and as an elementary paraprofessional and teacher. Lindsay obtained her CPTD-KA and Certified Dog Behavior Consultant certifications as well as her Family Paws license and loves working with families and their children to help integrate dogs and kids successfully. Other areas of interest include separation anxiety, fearful and anxious dogs, and therapy dog work. Lindsay is the only Control Unleashed Certified Instructor in West Michigan, and loves using pattern games and other strategies with reactive dogs. Lindsay and her dog Grover are a therapy dog team through and volunteer in a variety of settings in Grand Rapids.

Laura was member of the New Mexico National Guard, a Special Education teacher for 20 years and has lived in many states as an Army Wife, during her husband's 20+ year active duty career. She began training dogs in 2008 in Austin, Tx. In 2012, she moved to Colorado and completed the Dog Trainer program with Animal Behavior College. She did a 6 month internship with Wag Dog Training in Colorado Springs. Laura joined the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and the Pet Professional Guild and attends yearly seminars, conferences and webinars to obtain continuing education credits and stay on top of the current research and most effective training methods. Laura also, seeks and completes courses and programs in training related certifications every year. Laura opened Sit Stay Play Colorado in 2014 and Sit Stay Play Michigan in 2018. Laura has been involved in animal rescue and training for over 30 years, in various ways. Laura currently has 4 dogs, Cheyenne, Cub, Rocky, and Keno. Delores is the founder of The Learning Dog Academy in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. She’s a certified professional dog trainer (Karen Pryor Academy). Learning is a lifestyle for her (and her pups). Delores earned a certificate in Applied Animal Behavior (University of Washington), completed a the master course in Aggression in Dogs, and maintains certification as a fear-free trainer. Jacqueline is a current graduate student with Virginia Tech completing her Masters in Applied Animal Behavior and Welfare! She completed her undergrad studies at Eastern Michigan University where she was a research student under Dr. Jamie Cornelius studying bird behavior, and physiology. Jacqueline received her certification in Canine Emotion and Cognition from Duke University, and is pet CPR certified. She is working toward becoming a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (CAAB). Jacqueline has worked with numerous rescue/non-profit organizations including Animal Rescue Coalition, Villalobos Rescue Center, Detroit Bully Corps, Allforkarma, Humane Society of Livingston, MI Lab Rescue, Stiggys Dogs, DogAide, Blue Star Service Dogs, and Bark Nation. She has a strong background in working with rescue animals who suffer from fear-based aggression/anxiety. Jacqueline has been a foster, and now “foster-failure”, for Last Day Dog Rescue, and that is where her current rescue dog, Porter, came from. Aside from her rescue work, Jacqueline has been fortunate enough to work in the medical field of animal welfare as well, first working for Countryside Veterinary Hospital for almost three years as a receptionist fielding urgent calls, and assisting the veterinarians/technicians with holding/soothing animals during procedures. She then worked as a technician during the vaccine clinic days for the public at the Humane Society of Livingston, and eventually at Oakland Veterinary Referral Services as a technician assistant in the ER. Because of this, Jacqueline has strong insight on common medical problems that can lead to behavioral issues which allows her to better assist her clients and their dogs. Jacqueline has been a professional dog trainer since the launch of her business in March of 2014, and has worked in the field of animal welfare since November of 2012. She is a force-free trainer offering services in the southeast Michigan area. All breeds, sizes, and ages are welcome! The hands-on training and real-world experience I gained in the shelters provided a strong foundation for my education, and I graduated from ABC with honors. I’ve always loved dog training and have taken all of our dogs through a variety of obedience and agility classes. One of our previous dogs, Max, became a certified Therapy Dog and served as a Read to Rover dog at our local library, where children would read stories to him. Watching Max interact with the kids and seeing their confidence grow was incredibly rewarding. I’m excited to launch Trinity Dog Training LLC, where my focus is on teaching dog owners the importance of Connection, Communication, and Relationship. Born in Germany, a foreign work assignment brought Susanne’s family to the US in 2008. Drawn to all kinds of animals, she started volunteering at animal shelters, rescues, a low-cost spay and neuter clinic, as well as at a doggy day care facility. In summer 2011, Susanne became head volunteer for dogs at DuPage Animal Care and Control in Illinois where she helped organizing a Structured Training And Reinforcement program (STAR) for shelter dogs. STAR aims to achieve a higher adoption rate by teaching shelter dogs basic obedience and manners which makes the dogs more appealing to potential adopters. Equally important, it provides much needed mental and physical stimulation for dogs in a high stress shelter environment. This experience set the course for Susanne to become a certified dog trainer; she graduated with Honors from Animal Behavior College’s (ABC) dog training program and has also become a Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
