Hi!! I'm Erin and I'm a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and the founder of Bessey’s Positive Paws, a dog training business based in Whitefield, Maine. With nearly two decades of experience, I specialize in positive, force-free training methods that foster trust and effective communication between dogs and their families. During my college years, I began my professional journey at Green Acres Kennel Shop in Bangor, where I advanced from a Certified Pet Care Technician to a lead dog training instructor. My commitment to canine welfare extended to volunteering with Guiding Eyes for the Blind, where I raised three service dogs and participated in a six-week internship focused on developing a temperament evaluation program. yspositivepaws.blogspot.com In 2008, I joined Windsor Veterinary Clinic, where I has contributed my expertise for over 15 years. In 2011, I achieved her CPDT-KA certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, reflecting my dedication to ongoing education and adherence to industry standards. At Bessey’s Positive Paws, I offer both in-person and virtual training sessions, emphasizing family-friendly techniques suitable for all ages. Tails of Harmony LLC Dog Training. Serving The Portland Area in Maine. Certified Control Unleashed Instructor. I like to take a whole dog - whole life approach to working with clients. I really try to get where they are at and what their lifestyle and schedule involves and create a plan that will then be a success. Most of the time I think I am really just a relationship counselor for dogs & their humans!I love training with lots games and fun exercises that dogs love. I can see my clients realize how fun their dog as we work in our first session. I also believe it is crucial for a dog not be seen negatively, in order for them to succeed in our human world. So we work with anticipations/expectations and how that is read by the dog through the owner's face and body.
