Peach on a Leash owner and head trainer, Alex Sessa, (formerly Andes) CPDT-KA, CDBC, VSPDT is a pet behavior expert who has been training dogs and studying dog behavior for nearly a decade. Alex is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, a certification that requires hundreds of logged training hours and passing a comprehensive exam. She is also one of only five trainers in the state of Georgia to receive full certification as a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. This high-level certification requires a rigorous application process that’s assessed by a panel of experts in dog training and behavior, and you must demonstrate the knowledge and ability to handle complex behavior cases in order to be certified. Additionally, she has attained the prestigious Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Trainer (VSPDT) certification, and has successfully completed Michael Shikashio’s Aggression in Dogs Master Course. She attended the University of Georgia, where she began honing her training skills while helping improve the behavior of local shelter dogs to reduce euthanasia rates. She graduated with honors in 2012 and worked as both a pet adoption counselor and an assistant dog trainer before being offered a job with celebrity dog trainer Victoria Stilwell of Animal Planet’s “It’s Me or the Dog.” Alex traveled the world with Victoria and had the opportunity to learn from her in all facets of training and behavior for five years before deciding to pursue her dream of founding Peach on a Leash. Their work together allowed Alex the opportunity to work hands-on with both pet dogs and working dogs, including police dogs and accelerant detection dogs. As the founder and owner of Peach on a Leash, Alex manages our training program as well as our team of ten exceptional, highly qualified training and behavior experts. She leads the training for our VIP Puppy Development program, and has provided professional training for celebrities, athletes, CEOs, corporate therapy dog programs, and other high-profile clientele. She has been featured on HLN, WSB-TV, 11Alive, and various print publications. Alex serves as both a faculty member and a mentor for students in the Victoria Stilwell Dog Training Academy. She also serves on the advisory board for the online dog training platform Gentle Beast, in addition to developing their training curriculum and serving as the primary on-camera training talent. She regularly consults for other training companies, public safety departments, corporations and non-profit organizations needing guidance with their dog training and behavior-related programs. These experiences have helped her to become one of the most studied, well-rounded trainers in the area, and her results-oriented training utilizes effective and humane techniques that are backed by the latest modern behavioral science.

Hi, I’m Fina Garcia—a certified professional VSA-Certified Dog Trainer (In-Person), Licensed Family Dog Mediator, ABK Informed Pet Professional, and the heart behind Loyal Pawrenting. My mission is to help families build lasting, compassionate relationships with their dogs through science-backed, relationship-centered training rooted in empathy, trust, and connection. I’ve always believed that dogs aren’t just pets—they’re sentient beings, each with their own unique needs, histories, and personalities. What makes me tick is seeing that “aha!” moment when a family starts to truly understand their dog—not just as a problem to be fixed, but as a partner to grow with. I use the L.E.G.S. framework (Learning, Environment, Genetics, and Self) to look at the whole dog, not just the behavior. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and trauma-informed, integrating methods from therapeutic parenting, enrichment-based learning, and free-choice exercises like ACE Free Work. Before becoming a dog trainer, I spent nearly a decade as a multimedia instructional designer. That background allows me to break down complex behavior concepts into easy-to-follow, family-friendly plans—whether you're raising a new puppy, navigating life with a sensitive rescue, or simply wanting a stronger bond with your best friend. I’ve volunteered at my local shelter since 2019, working closely with foster parents, long-stay dogs, and behavior teams. I’ve also walked this path personally, raising two dogs of my own—Coco and Riley—who continue to teach me new lessons every day. At Loyal Pawrenting, I offer more than training—I offer guidance, advocacy, and a safe space to learn alongside your dog. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed or simply want to do better by your pup, I'm here to walk with you. Let’s create something meaningful, one paw at a time.

My core belief is that training should always be fun, for both the human and the dog! I began my journey as a professional dog trainer after I realized the dog that I had adopted had severe anxiety and aggression towards other dogs and humans. After working with a positive reinforcement trainer, I was inspired by the change I saw in my dog's life to become a professional trainer myself, with a particular interest in aggression and anxiety. I believe in using only science-supported positive reinforcement techniques, especially in cases with aggression, when aversive techniques may only suppress behavior rather than addressing the underlying cause. Since I began training professionally, I have worked with service dogs, aggression cases, and basic obedience, as well as trick training. In addition to the CPDT-KA certification, I am also an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator. If you are struggling with your dog's behavior, I would love to schedule a consult!

My goal as a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) is to help you develop a relationship your dog. I use a science based approach; including positive reinforcement, force free dog training, and enrichment. This approach is fun for both you and your dog and helps to lay a foundation built on trust and cooperation. I offer a personalized training plan for you and your dog or puppy at your home. I have different packages to choose from including traditional coaching packages as well as day training. I have experience working with shelter and rescue dogs. I give a 10% discount for training rescued dogs and puppies (recently adopted from a shelter, the Humane Society, or a reputable rescue organization) My areas of specialty include puppies, hyper/overly excited behaviors, as well as shy/fearful/anxious behaviors. I am a certified Dog Parkour Instructor with the IDPKA. I incorporate parkour and other enrichment as part of my training or you can sign up for parkour classes with me. I find that dog parkour helps build confidence, patience, and impulse control.

Our mission is to find balance between you and your dog so that every member of your family can live happily. Having a well-mannered, confident dog that is a positive addition to your life starts with you. Many inappropriate dog behaviors occur because of an imbalance or miscommunication in the relationship between a dog and its human. We offer a holistic approach to tackling canine behavior concerns by teaching both you and your dog so that we can build harmony from the inside out. By looking at each dog and each relationship individually, we will teach you how to understand who your dog is, why he does what he does, and how you can work with that in a way that will create positive results for both of you that will have long-lasting results! We won't just put a temporary fix on the problem. Through understanding canine behavior and effective communication methods, you will gain the skills to create a happy life with the four-legged members of your family! I offer private behavioral consultations in your home and specialize in anxiety, hyperactivity, fear/lack of confidence, and aggressive behaviors in addition to other, less emotionally-driven behavior concerns. Working with dogs, and understanding their behavior and how to train them, is not black and white - there are many shades of gray. What works for one team or in one circumstance may not work for the next. Behavior problems are most often due to an imbalance in the relationship, and the situation may not be what you think. By helping you understand more about how dogs learn and why they act the way they do (and more specifically, your dog), Maria will help you build a stronger, happier relationship with your dog. You will learn more about dog signals and communication, human-canine interaction techniques, and how to "build him up instead of break him down," thereby allowing you to provide better, clearer and more respectable communication to your dog - resulting in a more well-mannered and responsive partner!

I consider myself a dog trainer with a heart full of kindness and a toolkit full of grit. With a background in nursing and a gift for reading both people and pups, I bring a uniquely empathetic, no-nonsense approach to every training session.

I’m Kate Johnson, CBCC-KA, CPDT-KA, FDM — a Certified Canine Behavior Consultant, Certified Professional Dog Trainer, and Certified Family Dog Mediator — dedicated to helping families build happy, lasting relationships with their dogs. After nearly two decades in office administration, I chose to follow my lifelong love of animals and start a career in dog training. What began as a personal passion quickly grew into Rain or Shine Canine, LLC, where I now specialize in positive, science-based training for families, puppies, and dogs with behavior challenges. I’ve earned multiple professional certifications, completed advanced continuing education in behavior and training, and remain deeply committed to force-free, fear-free methods. My greatest passion is helping families during the puppy stage—particularly within the critical socialization window under 16 weeks, because intentional, supported socialization during this time can change the entire trajectory of a dog’s life. I also find it deeply rewarding to help families navigate behavior struggles such as fear, anxiety, and reactivity, providing both compassion and practical tools. Every client relationship matters to me: my goal is to bring relief, confidence, and joy to both dogs and their people.

Hi my name is Krystal, I am a positive reinforcement trainer that works at PetSmart. I have been a trainer and saving lives for 12 years now. I have worked with many breeds and have a 4 year old German Shepherd of my own. My classes are fun, informative and will have you and your pet enjoying your training experience, while getting all your pets training needs addressed. I am passionate about dogs and am excited about saving lives and helping people bond with their pets. I offer both Group and Private classes for all ages (starting at 10 weeks). I can’t wait to work with you and your dog.
My name is Shannon Altamirano and I am the owner of Sassy Dog. I am currently running a one woman show. This way I can work out all the kinks while knowing your dogs are being cared for properly and they are in the best hands possible! I was never happy working for someone else and it has always been my dream to own my own business. It took me some time to figure out exactly what type of business it would be, I just knew it had to be with animals. It’s been a long road to get to this point. I drove a semi truck for about 8 years, moved from Milwaukee, WI to Georgia, and really discovered who I am up to this day. I moved to Georgia in 2013 and a few years later I met my now husband, David, at the trucking company that he still currently works at. I got lucky to find someone who supports this crazy idea of mine. We had our first baby boy, Xander, in January of 2021 and look forward to growing more. Don’t let that scare you away though! I am very driven and motivated and Xander has actually helped me in my dog training experience thus far. Dogs can benefit from learning in a distracted environment and with hearing, seeing, and smelling babies and children. With Xander, I worked up to the day I gave birth working as a dispatcher so if I was willing to do that for a company, imagine what I would do for my own clients! We have two American Bullies currently who are pretty spectacular. Dominic and Torredo are Xander’s protectors but can be just sweet as pie. Dominic was orginally trained with force training and it really opened my eyes and made me realize that I wanted to help dogs have a better training experience. We then got Torredo and I knew that we couldn’t have dogs this large in size and not have them trained properly. I’m hoping they’ll be able to make friends with some of your fur babies. I started my education at Animal Behavior College in March of 2020 and after 16 months, I passed my final and am now a certified dog trainer. I did my externship part of my educ

Meet Sonja Thiels Ever since Sonja was a child, she was playing and working with somebodies’ dog or horse. Endless time spend at the barn, just observing horses, gave her great insight to how they co-exist, interact, and work within their family unit. Anybody that had a dog that was willing to lend her that dog would get an exercised, behaved, happily spent dog returned to them. Sonja is the founder of Paws At Play Dog Boarding and Training. Paws At Play is a singular concept in-home boarding and/or training experience in that it offers a set limit of no more than 20 dogs under 40’ish pounds. Her passion in dog (people) training stems from her desire to teach people how to communicate with their dogs in a positive and compassionate manner. Working with dogs and horses for near 45 years has given Sonja great understanding and knowledge on why dogs behave the way they do and how to make the relationship between dog and owner a happy and truly bonded one, leading to years of love and loyalty. Working with traumatized, those lacking social skills, abused, and those that have been abandoned has instilled in Sonja tremendous skill in rehabilitating dogs that were thought not to be able to co-exist in our society. Fostering countless dogs and finding them perfect homes to fit their personality gives her immense joy and gratification. Sonja lives with her animal family: Maggie Rose the Border Collie, Emily, Thea, Leopold, and Iva the Rat Terries, Maple the Miniature Pincher followed by Stevie Nix, Sadie, and Sandie the resident kitties.

When I got my first Rottweiler in 1992, I worked with an excellent trainer who opened the door for me to the world of dog behavior and training. Since then, I have worked specifically with companion animals and their owners to help prevent behavior problems, and build a strong bond between human and dog. My passion is being able to provide owners with the tools to bring out the best in their dogs. My methods are strictly positive, I believe that the bond between owner and dog is the key to successful training and work hard to provide methods that set the dog up for success and are enjoyable for the owner. I take a personal interest in my students and strive to provide resources, information, and referrals when needed to address their concerns for their pets in the best possible fashion. Services offered: Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Obedience, Behavior Modification training, AKC Canine Good Citizen classes and testing available. Group programs and private training available. I am proud to be the area trainer for Train a Dog, Save a Warrior, providing service dog training for Veteran’s, First Responders and family members at no cost. “ob-la-di-ob-la-dog” is a one on one positive reinforcement dog training program that develops a curriculum specifically formatted for you and your dog's needs. My objective is to strengthen your relationship with your canine companion while simultaneously guiding you through the process every step of the way. As the owner of four rescue dogs (and founder of “unwanted nyc pets”, a non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving dogs in high kill shelters), I know how important it is to develop a daily training regimen right from the start. Whether you are a new puppy owner, or a veteran to the dog world, if you are looking for structure, a well behaved dog, and above all, a positive training experience, “ob-la-di-ob-la-dog” is the right choice for you. I have worked with hundreds of rescue dogs, most recently volunteering my skills at the world renowned rescue organization Rescue Ink (as seen on the National Geographic channel).

I became a dog trainer because of my love for all animals. I grew up with dogs my entire life and continue to raise dogs and cats of my own. I work at my local pet store and have been graced to host my classes there as well on the side. As of right now, my business is small and I am unable to make it larger due to finances but I dream of having my own rescue ranch to foster dogs and cats that also doubles as a boarding facility. I one day hope my dog training becomes my main career.

Dunwoody, GA
Before becoming a dog trainer, I volunteered with rescue groups and individuals to help find homes, refuge, transport or spay/neuter options for those in need. It was always so fulfilling to know that you really could make a difference, even if it was one dog at a time. Over my years of volunteering, I adopted 4 of my foster dogs and ended up creating my “Pack of 5.” Realizing that adopting was just not enough, I became interested in making my dogs better by using positive reinforcement techniques to shape their behavior. My belief is that an effective dog trainer will coach people on how to train their dogs. When I saw how a skilled trainer can really communicate with a dog and learned about the scientific basis for it, I was hooked and I became a certified trainer. My mission is to teach owners to communicate with their pets and be able to alter an undesirable behavior. Experience the joy of a happy and polite dog in your life.
