I am the Animal Programs Senior Manager at Homeward Pet Adoption Center in Woodinville, WA supervising the animal care, behavior, and foster programs. While my priorities include providing behavioral care to the animals living in the shelter and in our foster homes, my team and I offer free consultations via phone and email to anyone who needs advice regarding their dog (or cat)'s behavior, with the goal of reducing the number of animals who enter the shelter system due to behavioral challenges. Cathy Madson Dog Training offers a variety of dog training courses and services, including virtual dog training with self-paced workshops or private one-on-one behavior consultations. In-person training and behavior consults are available in the North Seattle area. Certified dog trainer and behavior consultant Cathy Madson strives to help humans and their pets build a strong relationship based on trust and clear communication through force-free dog training methods. With over 15 years of experience working with dogs in shelters, dog daycares, grooming salons, group classes, and private companion dog training, she has had the opportunity to work with hundreds of dogs and on a wide variety of behavioral challenges. She believes that preventive and proactive training is key to helping dogs live a happy, well-adjusted life with their family. Beyond companion dog training, her specialties include leash reactivity, resource guarding, and dog aggression. Cathy is certified through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers, earning both the CPDT-KA and CBCC-KA designations. Cathy is a Fear Free Certified Certified Professional, a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), and a training professional member of The Pet Professional Guild (PPG). She has completed the Aggression in Dogs Master Course and is also a member of the Dog Writer's Association of America.
