Hi, I’m Melanie—the human behind REAL K9 Training™ (Reward-based Ethically Aligned Learning). I’m a CPDT-KA, Certified Service Dog Trainer (Atlas CT), and Fear Free Certified Professional, specializing in service dogs, puppies and behavioral modifications. I’ve spent over a decade helping both ends of the leash reach their full potential. My work with service dogs covers every stage of the journey. Whether you’re just starting your search for the right prospect or already have a candidate in mind, I offer support with puppy selection, early socialization, obedience, public access, and task training. I work with both new and experienced teams—though I do not provide guide dog, allergen alert, or autism-specific training. Every training plan I design is customized to fit each handler’s real-life needs. In addition to service dogs and puppies, I work with dogs who have big emotions—fear, anxiety, reactivity, or just needing a little extra understanding. My approach is always positive, science-based, and tailored to each unique dog-and-human team. I support clients through one-on-one coaching, day training, virtual sessions, and monthly subscriptions, depending on what best fits your goals and lifestyle.
