About

Dog training has been a recurring thread throughout my life. As a kid, I wanted a dog more than anything and would go to the dog show at the Cow Palace every January and walk around the benches admiring all the dogs. After a few pet store and re-homed dogs, my family adopted MacDuff, a Cairn Terrier bred and raised on my grandfather’s farm. While we did our best to train him with the help of one of the top professional trainers in the area; he wasn’t a show dog, and we loved him just the same. Then, as a teenager, like a lot of teenage girls, I fell in love with horses. I spent weekends and everyday after school taking care of horses, learning to ride and compete. I qualify for the Nationals in 1989. After college and building a career in the financial industry, I returned to dog training and competed in dog sports. My dog at the time, a standard poodle named Louie, gave me a new appreciate for the dog-human bond. We earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Utility Dog (UD), Versatility (VER) Obedience, and Rally Excellent (RE) titles. We tried scent work and agility too. We also became certified as a Delta/Pet Partners therapy team and volunteered at the East Palo Alto library after-school reading program called Dog Tales. And I learned to groom standard poodles. In 2020, I returned to dog training yet again when offered the opportunity to help a local breeder socialize and train her puppies using Puppy Culture, a popular system for puppy rearing. That evolved into private lessons, board & trains, and teaching group classes. I then joined Rav’n Dog Training as an instructor, became a AKC approved CGC & Trick Dog Evaluator, and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), San Mateo Dog Training Club (SMDTC), and Oakland Dog Training Club (ODTC). I continue to regularly participate in educational courses/classes/mentorships to learn the most advanced training methods for both own training and to share with my students. Over the years, all of these experiences led me to find and create a supportive like-minded community of students and competitors. We are all in this together, looking to evolve and grow our skills and relationships with our dogs. I currently have 2 dogs that I am training and competing with in AKC sports. I can empathize with your challenges and know how magical it can be when it all comes together. I will cheer you on and do what I can to help you achieve your goals.
